The Thai government is protective of the jobs for the local Thai people but there are still options and ways to make a living.
One of the main ways that people can make a living is to teach English. Jobs usually require a bachelors degree, but prior teaching experience is a plus. Teaching jobs range greatly in salary based on the school, your experience, and your credentials. If you are considering finding a teaching job it’s best to come here to find the role through some of the ex-pats already working. There are placement firms but they often will send you to very remote cities and take a percentage of your salary.
If you have the right skills there may be a business here in Thailand willing to sponsor you for a work visa. Doing online e-work, or running an online business isn’t officially approved but is a very common way for people to make a living. Authoring books, and providing English speech tutoring are also common ways to provide income.
